Many people have been supporting us as we have prepared plans to build a community hub in Wildwood Park to be known as ‘ParkLife’. Our conversations with people in the park and surveys at our pop-up Summer Cafe have shown lots of interest in a permanent cafe with rooms for community use, to replace the current changing rooms and toilets. The building would act as a base for Wildwood Church including Sunday meetings as well as activities through the week for children, youth and older people. Plus better facilities for the footballers, nicer toilets and soft play for toddlers!

We put a planning application in last December, expecting a positive response based on extensive conversations with Stafford Borough Council. Unfortunately, a number of new issues were raised at a very late stage and it has not been possible to resolve these in a way that would enable us to run ParkLife in a sustainable way.

As a church, we believe that God is leading us to show His love in and around Wildwood. We want to follow in faith and we have prayed about the right way forward. With the new issues raised in regards to the planning permission, and with Covid-19 changing so much of what we all do, we have stopped any activity on ParkLife. We are focused on supporting vulnerable people through the pandemic and have moved a majority of our church programme online. We don’t know what will come next, but we will keep you updated if plans develop.
