There aren’t many parts of the world that are unchanged since the time of Jesus or Paul. But at the moment I am working in Greece, under the shadow of the Acropolis, which dominates the skyline of Athens as it did when Paul preached here in AD54.
It is easy to be impatient with the Greek view of time, which seems to be that what hasn’t changed in 2000 years doesn’t need to change too fast now! And it’s easy to be equally inpatient with what we see as a lack of progress in our own lives and in our situation: blaming ourselves and our lack of spiritual maturity for the former and blaming God for the latter.
If that’s where you are today, what should you do? Sit back and wait for manana or to hustle and try and apply your own time scales?
God’s word to Job was that He knows best, and He sees the end from the beginning, but also He that he expected Job to play his part.
Maybe that is His word to me too?
