As we prayed for Rugeley Community Church last week, we noticed a couple of similarities with our own situation.
They have just started an Alpha course, as we have. We both have similar number of guests attending our courses and we will have our Holy Spirit day together – with Beacon, Whitchurch.
They are seeking God for a new building, as we are. They are further ahead than us and have identified a piece of land where they feel they are called to build. We have identified and expressed our interest in five sites (Baswich House, Wildwood Community Centre, the Mormons’ building, Marshlands school and Wildwood Park).
Please join in praying for them and for us. For breakthrough at Alpha and for a clear next step on buildings. We heard God say to us that His plan for our building is bigger than ours and we should ‘roll up the map’ and commit our way to Him. It is tempting to take things into our own hands, but as Abraham and Sarah found out (Genesis 16), that leads to Ishmael not God’s best!
Markus’s powerful sermon on Sunday reminded us that God cannot be put into our pockets, to be called upon when required! Pocket God might suit my needs, but Almighty God demands my obedience, including waiting for His perfect timing.
The God who took Moses through the Red Sea and will be with us when we go through the waters (Isaiah 43v2), knows what is best for us and will bring us into His promises.
