“Let your kingdom come.
Let these mountains move.
Let unanswered prayer, rise again to you.
For the more we ask is the more you’ll do.
My heart is bursting again, God of power break through!”
At our prayer meeting on Friday and again on Sunday morning, the powerful words of this new song from Simon Brading seemed to capture something of our heart cry for God to breakthrough in those situations where only He can make the difference.
The same urgency came in Graham Pyman’s words on Sunday from Ezekiel 47. As he noted that new life comes where the river of God flows, he urged us not to give up on God’s promises to us but to ‘pray back to God’ those assurances with confidence that He will fulfil His word.
As you are praying for family and friends to find Jesus this Christmas; as you are inviting neighbours to the Carol Service; as we seek God for a new building, for leadership transition, for abundant growth in the church and catches of fish that stretch our nets to their limits-then let’s pray with faith and expectation. God has the keys to the safe!
